With Glass going back in net and making his third straight start the remainder of the Gulls lineup remained unchanged as Kloos was still unable to go with whatever was ailing him.
San Diego started out hemmed in their own zone briefly but once they were able to break out the De Leo line got the Gulls on the board first with a strike thanks to some opportunistic passing in front.
Colorado took play back into the San Diego zone and had the Gulls chasing play for much of the next six minutes until Murphy was eventually called for tripping.
Max Jones had a breakaway during the kill but was turned aside on the backhand, he did however; draw a penalty as he attempted to follow up the rebound but was interfered with by a pick set by the Eagles.
Troy Terry drew another call on a pretty play, shifting in and out of defenders and eventually getting hauled down to put the Gulls on a generous 5 on 3 power play. Colorado put up a valiant effort but could not get a clearance on their third attempt and a cross crease pass from Kossila to Tropp gave the Gull the 2-0 lead.
San Diego picked things back up to start the middle frame, gaining the Colorado zone and playing a tight fore check but the Eagles were able to swing momentum once again and forced Glass to make some quality saves including this huge breakaway save.
He followed that up with a few more saves but the Eagles eventually got one by him when a defensive breakdown from the Gulls meant Sustr and Thomson left their checks unattended and just one cross ice feed later, the home team were on the board.
Play in the third period was tight and vastly unexciting until the fifteen minute mark when Sam Carrick received a nice pass down low and went in on net only to be hooked before he could shoot. Colorado were given another penalty during the San Diego man advantage and so the Gulls saw an abbreviated 5 on 3 but Colorado were able to prevent any major chances. Sam Steel was given an interference call with under two minutes left to set up a tense finish but San Diego defended with astute stinginess and came away 2-1 winners. Shots were 37 to 30 in favor of San Diego.
