San Diego, California: Announced by their team account on Twitter – it appears that one-time Waiver pick-up Lucas Elvenes has signed a two year deal to play for the HV71 club in Swedens SHL.

The 22 year old 6’1″ and 172lb left wing had 33 points in 43 games for the Gulls after joining them via a waiver pick up by the Ducks when the Vegas Golden Knights put him on unconditional waivers with the intention of terminating his contract.

The play-making winger started his tenure with the Gulls with a bang – compiling nine points in his first seven games – including back to back three point contests.

But much like the rest of the team – he struggled during team losing streaks and failed to find consistent chemistry with a line-mate (despite looking initially good with Alex Limoges). He was an important piece of a fledgling Gulls Power Play that mostly ran through him whenever it was able to convert.

The hope was that he would stick around to be a part of a young rebuilding Ducks organization but he now heads back to Sweden looking to regain the scoring touch he exhibited that lead to him being selected in the fifth round by the Golden Knights in 2017. The Ducks can retain his rights by qualifying him this summer and there is little to no reason for them not to with the hopes that he may come back to the club once they are closer to contending and the talented winger has regained some confidence to take the next step.
